Belle & Sebastian To Host Glasgow Charity Show

With Franz Ferdinand, Optimo helping out...

Belle & Sebastian are set to host a special charity show in aid of Save The Children in their native Glasgow.

The band will headline the show at the city's Clyde Auditorium on November 2nd, accompanied by a number of stellar acts.

The indie pop doyens have recruited Franz Ferdinand for a special set, while the line up also includes Jim and Charlie from Simple Minds, Mogwai, Young Fathers, Josie Long and more. In a neat step, Optimo will play the after party at Clyde-Built Bar.

Can't make Glasgow? Well, Belle & Sebastian will play a warm up show at Dunfermline's Alhambra Theatre on November 1st.

The band said: "Belle and Sebastian, humbly, and with a good will, wish to stand behind the displaced peoples of Syria in their brave attempt to find a better life in Europe. If governments won't help them, then the people must. Rock on."

Neil Mathers, Save the Children's Head of Scotland said" "From the moment that Stuart Murdoch called us and said that Belle & Sebastian wanted to help, we knew it was going to be a fantastic gig, but we're blown away by this line up. The ticket price will go straight to our child refugee crisis appeal, so we can help some of the most desperate families in the world flee war and start a better life for their children."

"A crisis like this truly demonstrates just how amazing people are and we've been overwhelmed by the compassion that Scots have shown. We're so excited about this amazing gig, it's going to be a fantastic night – get your tickets!"

Tickets are on sale now.
