Becoming Real is set to support witch house merchants SALEM on their upcoming UK tour.
2010 has seen the emergence in strength of musical blogs. First chillwave then witch house bedazzled our ears, with new acts being propelled by high profile bloggers in the United States and beyond.
One of the leading proponents of witch house, SALEM’s gothic electronica has made them one of the most talked about newcomers around. The American trio recently released their debut album, splitting fans and critics.
To some, SALEM are style over substance. To others, the trio are a brave new venture in electronic music. Set to tour the UK shortly, the band will be joined by fast rising London producer Becoming Real.
Adapting to new innovations from the blogosphere, Becoming Real is part of a new wave of producers indebted to the sounds of chillwave and witch house. Early tracks have the same slowed down, nostalgic feel that producers such as Toro Y Moi and Neon Indian have built their reputation on, but with definite traces of dubstep.
Set to release their new EP ‘Spectre’ on November 15th, Becoming Real are signed to the freshly launched Moshi Moshi sub-label Not Even. Currently preparing to No Pain In Pop’s debut festival, the producer is now set to accompany SALEM on their UK tour.
Opening in London on October 20th, Becoming Real will venture out of the capital to play a series of live shows. Meanwhile, as a special treat to fans the producer is giving away the track ‘South London Congo’.
