Beck is no longer opening for Arcade Fire on their North American tour.
Arcade Fire singer Win Butler was the subject of sexual misconduct allegations earlier this year, with Pitchfork running an extensive report. Wife – and band-mate – Régine Chassagne released a statement in support of her partner, with the band vowing to continue their touring activities.
Completing a UK and Ireland leg, initial support act Feist bowed out, issuing an eloquent statement that stood in line with all victims of sexual misconduct.
At the time, Arcade Fire said in response: “We are very sorry to see Leslie [Feist] go home, but completely understand and respect her decision.”
Beck supported Arcade Fire on their earlier North American tour dates, and was in line to return for the second instalment later this year. As Pitchfork notes, this is not now the case – the singer has been replaced by Haitian band Boukman Eksperyans.
Neither Beck or Arcade Fire have commented on the move.
The tour kicks off in Washington DC on October 28th.
