Beach Break Finds New Site

Beach festival shifts to Kent

Beach Break Live has stunned onlookers by finding a brand new site in only a few days, with the event set to take place in Kent.

Now well established, Beach Break Live is a student orientated event that includes both water sports and a top line up. Taking place at St Agnes in Cornwall the festival boasted some prime surfing locations and a wonderful small town atmosphere.

Already sold out, this year’s headliners include some of Britain’s biggest names. Dizzee Rascal recently scored a massive number one with his single ‘Bonkers’ and the hip hop icon will drop by the event to play a party starting set.

Also due to appear at the event are the likes of Eel Pie Island’s Mystery Jets and shoegaze revivalists Friendly Fires.

Liverpool indie giants The Zutons are due to headline the event, with the ‘Valerie’ song merchants set to be joined by New Zealand electro princess Ladyhawke and cult turntablist DJ Yoda.

However Beach Break Live was plunged into a crisis earlier this week when news broke that a Cornish council had refused the event permission to use their usual site. Shocked, organisers were left with a mad scramble to either settle the issue or find a new site.

Astonishingly, they’ve managed it and Beach Break Live will go ahead as planned. Sadly, the event has been forced to move from Cornwall and will now take place in Kent at Port Lympne Safari Park.

In a statement Beach Break Live organiser Celia Norowzian claimed she was over the moon after receiving news the festival would go ahead.

“I can’t say how delighted we are,” she said. “This has been a heartbreaking few weeks, but we literally feel like a miracle has happened!”

“The most shocking thing is that Cornwall’s economy is really struggling in the recession – there’s over 30 firms going bust every day, but we’re still doing our best to bring as many Cornish firms and artists with us as possible.”

In a statement on the event’s website organisers blamed “the Council who were pressurised by a well organised and what we consider an unlawful campaign by very few individuals”.

Obviously, some fans who bought tickets for an event in Cornwall are going to be unhappy about extra travelling costs. However organisers have stepped in to offer free coaches from the south coast or £15 per person to go towards petrol.

Beach Break Live is due to take place between June 16th – 19th.
