Beabadoobee previewed her album with a special London show over the weekend.
On Friday (August 2nd), the West London artist returned to her roots, playing a tiny headline show at Lafayette. The Kings Cross venue was packed out, with fans queuing around the block for their chance to catch the unique performance.
Part of the YouTube Music Nights series, the aim is to bring arena-level artists into small venues, creating one-of-a-kind moments for fans. Following in the footsteps of Anne-Marie, Maneskin, Tate McRae, Becky Hill, and Burna Boy, Beabadoobee turned her set into something genuinely unique.
Swapping the 90s-leaning crunch of her records for something stripped back, Bea played a mixture of new songs – some being heard for the first time – with old favourites, backed by a string quartet and just two band mates.
The occasion? Well, much-anticipated new album ‘This Is How Tomorrow Moves’ is out on August 9th, and anticipation is at fever pitch.
As ever, Bea didn’t seem to let this bother her – charmingly self-effacing, the new material feels increasingly honest, increasingly open, but this is matched to melodic maturity. At times, her gift for a compact, ear-worm chorus is McCartney-esque in its simplicity, but there’s also a great deal of emotional heft, too.
As ever with YouTube Music nights the performance was filmed – expected a mixture of Performance Video, Live Stream and Shorts content shortly.
