BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend – Line Up Details

Dizzee Rascal, Pendulum and more

The tenth annual instalment of BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend is set to storm Bangor with appearances from Dizzee Rascal and more.

Way back when, an outdoor BBC pop music event would normally involve the Bay City Rollers and water ski-iing Wombles. Now, however, Auntie Beeb has managed to produce a genuinely credible event.

Sure, it might be a little pop heavy but BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend makes a commitment to bring new talent to places which would otherwise be ignored. Coming to Dundee in 2007, the event will this summer visit the Welsh town of Bangor.

Headliners will include Dizzee Rascal, who ruled the roost last year with his album ‘Tongue N Cheek’. Spawning a series of summer smash hits, the grime star turned pop phenomenon is set to headline Radio 1’s Big Weekend.

Joining the rapper will be BRIT award winning group Florence And The Machine and Australian drum and bass mentalists Pendulum. Meanwhile, X Factor judge Cheryl Cole has also been chosen to perform, after her much criticised mimed appearance at the Brit Awards.

With the likes of Alicia Keys and Rihanna set to appear, Radio 1’s Big Weekend will be dominated by huge names.

Meanwhile, the likes of Lostprophets, Marina And The Diamonds, JLS and Biffy Clyro are all set to appear on the varied bill.

Spread across two stages, the massive outdoor event will be free to fans. Chris Moyles unveiled the line up this morning (April 26th) with more than 30 acts set to perform at the annual bash.

BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend takes place between May 22nd – 23rd.
