Avril Lavigne Draws A Huge Glastonbury Crowd

For a career-spanning set...

Avril Lavigne has drawn a colossal crowd to Glastonbury’s Other Stage.

The billing initially posed an issue for football fans, with Avril Lavigne’s stage time – immediately after Shania Twain’s legend set – clashing with England vs Slovakia in the European Championships.

With England one nil down, it looked as though festival go-ers have voted with their feet – the pop-rocker performed to a massive crowd at The Other Stage.

Opening with ‘Girlfriend’ , the breakneck set then moved into ‘What The Hell’, with Avril pausing to tell the crowd to stay safe.

The set moved from golden classics from 2002 debut ‘Let Go’ to her most recent record ‘Love Sux’. Highlights included a mighty ‘Complicated’ and ‘Don’t Tell Me’ while a rapturous version of her seminal hit ‘Complicated’ saw the huge crowd at the Other Stage sing each word back to her.

An overwhelmed Avril thanked the crowd from the bottom of her heart.

Closing with a fiery take on ‘Sk8r boi’, she has raised the temperature on the final day of Glastonbury 2024 – the festival closes with a headline set from R&B goddess SZA this evening.
