Massive benefit concerts have taken place across Australia to raise funds for those affected by the recent bushfires which swept through vast areas in the south of the country.
No one who saw the footage from the disaster could fail to have been moved. Over two hundred people are thought to have lost their lives, with thousands being made homeless.
The two concerts took place in the cities of Sydney and Melbourne, with a total attendance in excess of 120,000. Amongst the performers were Kings Of Leon, Coldplay and many more.
Coldplay took the stage in the mid-day heat playing in a temperature of 30 degrees. Perhaps wisely eschewing their military jackets for the set, the band played a greatest hits set, opening with ‘Yellow’.
A host of Australian acts also performed at the concerts. Electro group The Presets performed alongside a rejuvenated Wolfmother – making their first public appearance with their new line up.
Kings Of Leon performed to over 78,000 fans in Melbourne, playing a stunning which missed out recent global smash ‘Sex On Fire’ – the band claiming it was too “sensitive” to victims of the fires.
