ATP Hits Japan

New event launches

All Tomorrow’s Parties are set to hit Japan in 2011 for the forthcoming event I’ll Be Your Mirror.

Founded a decade ago, All Tomorrow’s Parties has grown to become a global concern. The event has moved to the United States, while an Australian instalment was an enormous success.

Now ATP is set to travel to Japan. The Asian nation has a thriving music scene, producing countless cult acts. Gleefully pushing the barriers, Japanese music often has a unique take on Western culture.

Due to take place on February 27th, ATP has organised a Japanese excursion. However this isn’t some British take over – rather the organisers aim to reflect and give more exposure to the native scene.

Titled ‘I’ll Be Your Mirror’ the name comes from the original B-side to the ‘All Tomorrow’s Parties’ single by The Velvet Underground. Taking place at Studio Coast in Tokyo, the intimate event will feature music, DJs, and art from James Jarvis of Amos Novelties.

The event aims to cross barriers, and will present a mixture of Japanese and international artists. Working in co-operation with Japan’s Creativeman, promoter Barry Hogan was understandably excited at the prospect of bringing ATP to Japan.

“We feel really excited that we are finally coming to Tokyo to present some of our favourite Japanese and International artists” he said. “It’s been something we’ve wanted to do for many years and this first edition of I’ll Be Your Mirror will be a sample of future projects we plan to bring to Japan.”

After the Tokyo event I’ll Be Your Mirror aims to come back to the UK sometime next summer. Line up and ticket details for the Japanese instalment are due to be announced soon.

I’ll Be Your Mirror takes place on February 27th.
