Are The Who Heading To The UK?

Pete Townshend drops a few hints...

The Who could be set to bring their live show to the UK once again next year.

Pete Townshend has had a difficult year. The guitarist is a notoriously private individual, keeping his guard up through more than four decades of international fame. With the release of his autobiography, though, the songwriter decided to open up in a frank, accessible manner.

Currently tour with The Who, the guitarist has been dropping hints about a potential return to the UK. Despite a one off performance at the Olympics closing ceremony European dates have remained sadly absent on their live itinerary. Posting a new instalment of his tour diary, Pete Townshend has come a close as ever to revealing plans for a British tour in 2013.

The update reads as follows:

I have been spreading rumours that Rachel and I would be premiering our orchestral version of Quadrophenia at the Royal Albert Hall Teenage Cancer concert in March 2013. Now we have decided that because the Who tour extends into March and probably beyond into April in the UK that it would be too much for me personally. Rachel’s score sounds wonderful, and will certainly be premiered some time in 2013 or 2014. More on this later.
