The first details of this year’s Reading and Leeds festivals have been announced, with Arctic Monkeys set to headline the event.
One of Britain’s biggest music events, the Reading and Leeds festivals have grown from strength to strength. Reading was renowned as a rock and metal event, while Leeds was a small provincial event.
United over ten years ago, the twin events have become one of Europe’s premiere festivals. Capable of gaining exclusive performances from some of the world’s biggest artists, Reading and Leeds were headlined last year by The Killers, Rage Against The Machine and more.
This year Sheffield indie giants Arctic Monkeys are set to perform at the event. The group last released an album with ‘Favourite Worst Nightmare’ in 2006. Since then the band have toured the world, with lead singer Alex Turner also playing with The Last Shadow Puppets – who made their live debut at last year’s festival.
The group have been working on their much anticipated third album of late. Retreating to the deserts of California, Arctic Monkeys worked with Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme. As yet, not much has been heard of the new material with the band shocking audiences in Australia and New Zealand by playing never before heard tracks.
With the new album due later this year, Arctic Monkeys are one of the hottest bands on the planet. Nearly every music fan in the UK is eager to find out what the new album sounds like, this is a stunning first announcement from the organisers.
Reading and Leeds festivals take place between August 28th – 30th.
