The Glade have invited the junk yard geniuses known as Arcadia to take their explosive stage show to their new site.
The Glade is one of British dance music’s real treasures. Beginning life as the renegade dance stage at Glastonbury the event later broke free, to become a unique and very individual festival in its own right.
This year The Glade has upped sticks and moved to a new site, but fans needn’t worry – The Glade is due to be longer, louder and later than ever before.
Amongst the host of new attractions for this summer’s event are the performance artists known as Arcadia. At a recent Glastonbury performance the Arcadia gang constructed a massive construction out of waste metal, then set off a huge array of fireworks from the body of their sculpture.
Words genuinely can’t describe the impact this had on the crowd. Astonishment? Arcadia offer up a mind bending future shock that has to be seen to be believed. Globe trotting DJ Adam Freeland was stunned by the show, saying:
“Yeah it was awesome! I love doing those kind of stages man, anything goes, it’s just wild, you just go for it – flames help! Flames always help! Anything that makes the crowd go ‘yeah’! That shit works!”
A collection of young installation artists from the West Country, Arcadia are due to return to The Glade this year for their most spectacular performance yet. “We are well chuffed to have the Arcadia posse again at Glade Festival this year” said Glade Festival director Nick Ladd.
“I have been to Burning Man festival in the Nevada desert many times and believe me the work Arcadia are currently putting out is on a par with anything I have seen out there – it’s world class.”
Speaking of Nick Ladd, the festival director recently gave festival fans a number of hints to avoid a disaster at this year’s Glade festival. Here’s what to do if you lose your mates:
“Go and talk to interesting people with beards in the healing field; get some fancy dress on, dance like freak to a Balkan violin band and drink Margaritas. Go to a Tai Chi workshop… or at the very least go and see some bands you have never heard of with some cool people you have never met. Get out of your comfort zones and find the flow and enjoy it! Losing your mates can be a very liberating thing.”
Pretty good advice. However here’s another one:
“9) DONT GET INVOLVED IN FERRET LEGGING OR FIRE BREATHING UNLESS YOU ARE SOBER.
Nuff said here I think.”
The Glade is set to take place between July 16th – 19th.
