Antony Hegarty Live Surprise Plans

Orchestral collaboration planned

Mercury award winning singer Antony Hegarty is set to launch a number of unusual live events, with a Matthew Herbert collaboration in the pipeline.

Possessing one of music’s most spectral voices, Antony Hegarty has made a career out of sending goosebumps up spines. Emerging as a backing singer with Lou Reed, the British born star released his second album ‘I Am A Bird Now’ in 2003.

A huge success, it won the singer the Mercury Music Prize amid emotional scenes. Since then, Hegarty has collaborated extensively working with Bjork and contributing vocals to the Hercules And Love Affair project.

Hegarty returned with his new album ‘The Crying Light’ earlier this year. A collection of sweeping songs, it marks a new period in the singer’s life with a series of orchestral dates planned for this summer. Teaming up with composer Nico Muhly the concerts will be very special events with only a handful planned.

Amongst these is an appearance at the Manchester International Festival, where a press release states the audience can expect “a stage environment for The Crying Light inspired by Bauhaus stage lighting design and considering the dreams of crystals inside mountains”.

If that’s not your bag then a collaboration with Matthew Herbert may well be more your thing. The twin talents are set to team up for a very special performance at Coachella.

Hegarty will unite with electronic guru Herbert for a one off show at the desert festival on April 19th.
