Animal Collective are among the latest groups to be confirmed for Primavera 2011.
Held in Barcelona, Primavera is one of Europe’s most highly regarded events. The festival has grown in recent years, mixing art exhibitions with performances from some celebrated musicians.
Returning for another instalment in May 2011, Primavera Sound Festival has confirmed a string of big names. Taking time off to indulge in solo projects, American group Animal Collective are set to return.
Memories of ‘Merriweather Post Pavillion’ still linger, with the festival grabbing a no doubt spectacular performance from the group. Now restored to a quartet, it will be interesting to hear how Animal Collective adjust to this.
Elsewhere, Primavera has booked a performance from Pulp. The reformed Britpop legends are due to be unavoidable this summer, having already confirmed performances at Wireless, the Isle of Wight and more.
No doubt set to announce more festival dates as the year progresses, Jarvis Cocker & Co. will venture outside the UK for the acclaimed Spanish festival.
Due to perform in the Spanish sun, Pulp will be joined by American breakthrough act The National, Flaming Lips and Fleet Foxes. Currently beginning work on their second album, Fleet Foxes are set to swelter in the Spanish sun with Primavera boasting some of the best weather of any European festival.
Taking place between May 26th – 28th, Primavera occupies the Parc del Forum in the centre of Barcelona. The line up is being added to daily, with other performances confirmed from Belle & Sebastian, Mogwai and more.
