André 3000 and Sampha have been added to the line-up for We Out Here Festival.
Founded by legendary DJ and broadcaster Gilles Peterson, We Out Here Festival blends jazz, club culture, hip-hop, and beyond, piecing together one of the country’s most distinctive line-ups.
This summer looks to be a bumper outing for We Out Here, with a host of heavy hitters joining the fun. American legend André 3000 will play an incredibly rare UK set at the festival, following his ambient flute jazz masterwork ‘New Blue Sun’.
On its release, Clash wrote:
There is artistry here, and that is undeniable. ‘Ghandi, Dalai Lama, Your Lord & Savior’ directly links the album to the spiritual jazz lineage, while closer ‘Dreams Once Buried…’ is terrific, the glacial evolution managing to enrapture and ruminate in equal measure.
Alongside this, Mercury winner Sampha will appear at We Out Here, alongside spoken word artist Kae Tempest, UK rap icon Black Thought, Floating Points, and enigmatic performer Casisdead.
Elsewhere you can catch Louie Vega, Ebi Taylor, Loose Ends, and jazz-funk legend Brian Jackson – the co-pilot of those epic Gil Scott Heron sides.
Founder & curator Gilles Peterson says of the announcement…
“We’re really excited to announce the full lineup for We Out Here 2024…edition 5! I can’t tell you how much I value this gathering of all the musical tribes, and this lineup might be our most wide-spanning and eclectic yet.”
Tickets are on sale now.
We Out Here Festival takes place between August 15th – 18th.
