Controversial singer Amy Winehouse has been forced to cancel her appearance at the Coachella festival after being refused entry to the United States.
Amy Winehouse broke a host of records in one night at the Grammy Awards just over a year ago. Scooping five awards she seemed set for global fame, until a series of personal problems set back her career.
Problems with her health and drug abuse prevented her from touring, and her few live appearances degenerated into a farce. However, the singer appears to be on the mend after a holiday in the Caribbean and is said to be planning her third album.
A recent assault charge has put paid to any Stateside ambitions for the moment. Winehouse is due to appear in court tomorrow (March 10th) accused of assaulting a fan at a gig in September.
“She is not appearing at Coachella this year in the light of current legal issues,” Winehouse’ spokesman told the Mirror.
Winehouse reportedly punched Flash at the Berkeley Ball in London after Flash asked if her friend could have her photo taken with the ‘Back To Black’ singer.
Amy Winehouse is due to make her live return in this country at a series of gigs organised to celebrate the 50th anniversary of her record label Island.
