Amy Winehouse has confirmed a short burst of dates in Brazil early next year.
Amy Winehouse has not played a full live show since 2008. The singer has endured a torrid time, battling divorce, drug abuse and a chaotic personal life which has seen her given plenty of very public criticism.
Now focussing on her music, Amy Winehouse recently contributed to a Quincy Jones tribute album. The singer recorded a version of ‘It’s My Party’ adding a new twist to the well worn 1963 classic.
However live dates have always seemed a long way off. Amy Winehouse last performed live in 2008, with the singer playing a much criticised show at a jazz festival on the Caribbean island of St Lucia.
But Amy Winehouse has now surprised fans by confirming a number of shows in South America. The singer is due to perform in Brazil, play a one off set as the headliner of Summer Soul.
A massive outdoor event, Summer Soul also has acts such as Mayer Hawthorne and more on the bill.
As well as this, Amy Winehouse has confirmed a one off headline show. The singer will play an additional concert in Rio de Janeiro, with American performer Janelle Lonae also due to perform.
Currently, Amy Winehouse is working on tracks for her new album. Much delayed, the follow up to 2006’s ‘Black To Black’ should emerge – fingers crossed – at some point next year. Probably.
