Alex James and Jamie Oliver have teamed up to launch a new summer festival.
Alex James’ post-Blur career hasn’t exactly set the world on fire. Retiring for a country farm, his efforts to launch a cheese brand and join the Chipping Norton set have caused no end of mirth from certain quarters.
Last summer, Alex James hosted the Harvest Festival on his farm, an event attended by David Cameron and Jeremy Clarkson. Sadly, few other people turned up and organisers Big Wheel folded – leaving behind them more than £1 million of debt.
Undeterred, Alex James hooked up with Jamie Oliver earlier this year to launch The Big Feastival. A weekend of food, drink and music the event is set to open its doors this weekend (September 1st – 2nd).
Taking place Churchill Heath Farm, more than 10,000 people are expected for an event headlined by Texas and Paloma Faith.
In a move which no doubt seemed like a good idea at the time, Alex James and Jamie Oliver are also set to team up for a one off performance. James will play bass and Oliver will handle the drums for the first – and perhaps only – set by The Farm Lovin’ Criminals. See what they did there? Of course you did…
