65daysofstatic Launch New Clash Event

Electro-centric London show...

Clash is expanding its live activity in London to introduce a new, monthly night at The Social, right in the heart of the capital, a hop and a skip away from our own offices.

Our first event at The Social – on Monday June 22 – features a headline DJ set from 65daysofstatic. The Sheffield-based glitch-rock foursome had a hectic 2008, supporting The Cure around the world, and have a busy festival schedule ahead of them, taking in appearances at the Clash-partnered Dour Festival in July (WIN TICKETS), Supersonic in Birmingham and Bestival on the Isle Of Wight. They’ll head as far abroad as Japan, for the Summersonic Festival. Those passports: gonna be battered.

We recently featured a full week of downloads from across the 65days catalogue, to mark the release of the band’s first live album ‘Escape From New York’ (out now on Monotreme, REVIEW) – the downloads have expired, but you can still stream five great tracks by clicking HERE.

65days’ stint at the decks (expect only the unexpected, as pop favourites are transformed into beastly beat-heavy monsters in a style most singular) will be supported by three very special acts, all offering new twists on textural electronica. Rival Consoles is Ryan Lee West, whose deeply exploratory IDM is comparable to Chris Clark in its fluctuations between cerebral serenity and brain-bruising hostility; Digitonal present their ambient electro with a classical twist, as engrossing as the finest symphony but as cutting edge as anything currently getting the Warp stable moist; and worriedaboutsatan are a Leeds duo whose debut album ‘arrivals’ has had us rethinking the boundaries between post-rock and electronica, so wonderfully do they combine disciplines – read our album review HERE.

Tickets are five pounds advance, or six on the door. CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS.
