Following his casting in an unspecified role, it looks like Rhys Ifans’ villianous role in the 2012 Spiderman reboot will be as ‘The Lizard’.
Movie website The Wrap is reporting that the Welsh actor will be playing Dr Curt Connors a.k.a. The Lizard, the main bad guy in the forthcoming film.
Perhaps not as well known as the Green Goblin or Doctor Octopus, The Lizard’s backstory involves the doctor experimenting on himself with reptilian regenerative genes which, as these things have a habit of doing, goes wrong.
British actor Andrew Garfield is to play Spiderman with Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, the object of his high school crush, in this reboot set before Sam Raimi’s trilogy, due to be released in 3D in Summer 2012.
