Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O is set to craft the soundtrack to the forthcoming Spike Jonze movie.
Spike Jonze has risen from producing music videos to working on some of the hottest films in Hollywood. As a director Jonze has worked on some of the most iconic promos ever made, notably Beastie Boys much imitated ‘Sabotage’ video.
More recently Spike Jonze has worked with Yeah Yeah Yeahs on a number of projects, and it seems that singer Karen O is set to return the favour. Jonze is directing the much anticipated new movie ‘Where The Wild Things Are’ and the soundtrack is set to feature some indie rock greats, reports Pitchfork.
Karen O has been entrusted with composing the soundtrack alongside Carter Burwell, with Deerhunter mainman Bradford Cox assisting. Not much information has been released about the soundtrack, although it is known that Arcade Fire have agreed to let their hymn-like ‘Wake Up’ be used.
The film is based on a popular children’s book of the same name and is due to be released in the United States on October 16th.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs have been busy of late, working on new album ‘It’s Blitz’. Due for physical release soon, fans of American indie was left gob-smacked by the recent news that none other than Animal Collective had been called in for remix duty on a limited edition version of the Brooklyn group’s single ‘Zero’.
‘Where The Wild Things Are’ is due for release in the United States on October 16th. It is not known if a soundtrack album will be released.
