Win tickets to Nico Tribute Concert

On the 20th anniversary of her death

A special concert dedicated to the late model, actress and singer Nico has been announced and will take place in London Royal Festival Hall on October 11th.

Born Christa Paffgen, Nico left her native Germany to become a model and actress, eventually gravitating towards Andy Warhol’s Factory in New York. There she became part of The Velvet Underground, singing on the group’s first album before going solo. Her album “The Marble Index” is widely regarded as one of the tragically affected works in popular music, blending tortured lyrics with orchestration supplied by fellow Velvets exile John Cale.

The one off gig, entitled ‘Life Along The Borderline – A Tribute To Nico’, has been put together by John Cale and will feature the Manic Street Preachers frontman James Dean Bradfield, Mark Lanegan, Bauhaus’ Peter Murphy and Fiery Furnaces.

Nico died in Ibiza after suffering a brain hemorrhage due to falling off her bicycle. The tribute concert takes place twenty years after her death, and celebrates a stunning vocalist whose tremendous talent was sidelined due to her long-standing heroin addiction.

The Nico Tribute Concert takes place in London Royal Festival Hall on October 11th.
