Sure, the Sheffield songwriter may have made his name with a suite of richly orchestrated work, but Richard Hawley retains a deep love of the instrument. Deciding to strip things back, recent album 'Standing At The Sky's Edge' found the songwriter using the bare minimum of equipment.
“I wanted to get away from the orchestration of my previous records" he reflected recently, "and make a live album with two guitars, bass, drums and rocket noises!"
The guitar in question? A trusty Gretsch favoured by Richard Hawley. Now the musician has teamed up with Talenthouse and Clash Magazine to let fans come up with a brand new design for his trademark instrument.
Focussing on the guitar skin, fans are asked to let Richard Hawley's music inspire them. There's a lot at stake, with both Richard Hawley and the fans themselves picking their favourite.
