Claire’s has been a friend to every woman at one time or another, from buying studded collars way back when Camden was the big bad wolf ma and pa wouldn’t let you frequent, to that kitsch phone case you picked up the week before last; there’s a reason Julia Sarr-Jamois and Ashley Williams tapped the brand to accessorise Williams’ AW14 catwalk show.
Similarly, it makes perfect sense that Katy Perry – often adorned with jewels, gems and the rest – picked Claire’s to collaborate with on her debut jewellery range, co-insiding with her Prism world tour, so-called after her most recent number one album.
While the collab’s first range – titled ‘Roar’ after the first single taken from the album – hit stores a while back, the ‘Wildflower’ collection drops in-store and online this month, taking summer vibes and festival fashions as its point of reference.
Bright coloured flowers make up wristbands while gold beads and diamante sit as headpieces, plus sunglasses take on a circular shape enveloped by floral tributes.
Each piece is some way in keeping with the softly lit ‘Prism’ album cover, while several others take on an Egyptian theme (borrowed from the ‘Dark Horse’ video), with geometric shapes here the defining factor.
“We’re privileged to continue working with Katy,” says Claire’s Chief Executive Officer, Beatrice Lafon. “She is an exceptional artist who inspires girls and women worldwide, perfectly aligning with our brand mission.”
As Glastonbury kicks off this week, Wildflower’s timing couldn’t much be bettered.
