The Wave Pictures are one of life's real joys.
The band's catalogue is whimsical, wry, touching, affecting, and downright daft, carving out their own unique place in the musical universe.
New album 'Look Inside Your Heart' is out now on Moshi Moshi, with the group leaping into 2019 with infectious new single 'Shelly'.
Singer and guitarist Dave Tattersall has the final word, describing the track as “a love song in the laid back style of late 70s Grateful Dead only with even better lyrics.”
We're able to premiere the video, shot in and around Bethnal Green by Fraser Watson. Back to Dave again: "Inspired by the dress sense of Queen, after watching 'Bohemian Rhapsody' while on tour in Germany, we decided to go as glamorous as The Wave Pictures are able. The results speak for themselves."
"As if the suits and sequins weren't enough, we were lucky that Holly Holden (who sings backing vocals on the track itaelf) was able to attend the video shoot to add some genuine class, both fashion-wise and singing her backing vocal parts as on the recording."

Dave Tattersall - As they say, the best trip is the trip home.
Jonny Helm - There are a few that stand out, mainly fond memories of early tours.
- Supporting and playing as Darren Hayman's backing band on a Spanish tour way back in 2007, it was hard work, but we've been back to Spain every year since then!
- Supporting Jeff Lewis on a UK tour in 2008. Awesome.
- Supporting and playing as Daniel Johnston's backing band in the UK in 2009. Amazing!
- Supporting Allo Darlin' on a month long US tour in 2012. Friends for life! That tour also inspired our 'City Forgiveness' double album.
- Headlining a tour of Spain with Allo Darlin' supporting later in 2012.
JH - I'm going to say a tour we did in Europe using public transport in blizzard conditions, guitars and drum breakables shoved into luggage racks, delays due to snow. Overcrowded coaches. Every town we turned up in the promoters told us "no one is here because the weather is too bad..." I think that same tour Franic, (bass player/tour manager) got sick and me and Dave were left trying to work out what train we were supposed to get. Bad times.
Favourite foreign venue...
JH - Maybe Schokoladen in Berlin?. Maybe La Lata de Bombillas in Zaragoza? Small sweaty venues.
We are surprisingly popular in...
JH - Surprisingly popular?
Best or worst exotic foodstuff...
DT - There are so many to choose from... I suppose I'd never eaten anything like those little baby pigs they fed us with once in Spain. I'd never eaten pork as tender as that. I don't remember what they called it.
JH - Gambas A La Plancha in Spain. The best!
Most interesting individual you’ve met on the road...
DT - Michael who lives in Barenbach in Germany, with his impossibly huge collections of country music and horror movies, is always good fun and interesting to spend time with.
JH - Stanley Brinks! He's got some interesting ideas.
Worst on tour injury, or infection or accident...
DT - Terrible vomiting-all-day hangovers are the worst thing that I've experienced, once caused by near-lethal Spanish pints of gin and tonic and once caused by backstage Jaegermeister.
JH - The Wave Pictures are remarkably resilient, we had a driver called Will who twisted his ankle once, Fran getting ill that one time in Europe. I've seen Dave run off stage mid set, throw up and then carry on playing (In Hull, at The Adelphi). Other than that, nothing to report.
My essential travel item...
DT - Something to read, usually a crime novel in my case. My favourites include Raymond Chandler, Elmore Leonard, Lawrence Block.
JH - Enough socks.
My essential travel tip...
DT - Stay at home if you possibly can.
JH - Don't miss your flight.
