The Travelling Band made their name the old school way.
By getting on stage as much as possible and, when up there, delivering absorbing performances that left the Mancunian youth of their hometown worshipping them as they began their pilgrimage to Glastonbury 2008. It was during their visit to the farm of Mr Eavis that they earned themselves the ‘Glastonbury New Talent 2008’ title after performing in front of an all star panel.
The six member band are a rare blend of cosmic-folk pop rock. One would assume their country tone would sit uneasily in their urban setting and Manchester gigs, however its unique sound has drawn an unusually large following. The constant overpowering of musical creativity by corporate businesses seems to have resulted in a subconscious public rebellion, as many begin to delve into back to basics roots music. The Travelling Band achieve the roots feel by reverting back to the vintage gig feeling of a few people, sitting together and just playing some music. They have been polishing their live performances at local club night ‘Sideways Saloon’, which has been witness to many of the tracks recorded for the album ‘Under The Pavement’.
The band employ a huge arsenal of instruments including acoustic guitar, pump organ, harmonica, electric guitar, percussion, drums and even a banjo.
Their debut album is set for a November 17th release which will be preceded by the initial release of single ‘Only Waiting’.
