The Lost Brothers, a.k.a. Mark Mccausland and Oisin Leech, are veterans of the UK indie scene having served time in The Basement and The 747s respectively.
The Irish duo have returned from far off lands with their enchanting debut ‘Trails of the Lonely (Parts I & III)’. The guys took the high road to Portland, Oregon and producer Mike (Bright Eyes, She and Him, M Ward) Coykendale’s attic for 3 weeks of intimate, intense sessions. Coykendale’s residence, beside boasting a piano in the bathroom, also hosted a supposed spectral inhabitant, lending ghostly overtones to the duo’s resulting long player.
The three weeks closeted away in a far off attic focussed the duo completed on the task at hand, delivering the immersive listen that is ‘Trails of the Lonely (parts I & III). Furthering their symbiosis with the American North West, the boys chanced upon local scene illumni Rachel Blumberg who lent her artistic talents to the evocative cover art, perfectly capturing the mood of the album.
The mood, summoned by Mark and Oisin’s harmonies and the enveloping acoustic arrangements, is that of a haven from dark, grey days outside (Portland seemingly sharing the UK’s weather). So come on in, take a seat and enjoy the purity and warm of the performance, just ignore the rattling chains.
