The city's punk-edged indie community is coming of age...

Glasgow has never been short of a great band or two.

In fact, the city is one of the UK's real hubs, constantly speaking its mind and producing stellar new voice after stellar new voice.

Rising indie punk kids The Dunts are part of a new crop of acts scattered around the city, and there's a real community feel to this underground scene.

These bands put on shows together, party together, and general cause a ruckus wherever they go.

BBC Scotland's excellent TV show TUNE profiled the scene recently, capturing The Dunts on camera...

With the band setting their sights on London, we asked guitarist Colin McGachy to pick out some of his favourite new groups from Glasgow...

Fiendz - 'Speed In My Coffee'

South side punks who are smashing it just now, we have been friends with these lot for a while and there is an exciting buzz around them especially with their live shows, their set at Stereo back in January stands out.

The Roly Mo - 'If You Play Nice'

Part of the next wave of Glasgow bands. Blending punk with indie sensibilities and have recently been demonstrating their writing chops with a fully formed set of bangers, exciting times ahead.

Spyres - 'Otherside'

Another band that has been able to use Club Sabbath as a platform to grow and gain exposure. Spyres very recently released their debut single ‘Otherside’ which has been really well received and indicates a bright future for the group.

Voodoos - 'NRA'

Admittedly we love this band to bits, these boys keep getting better and better. We have been lucky enough to share the stage with them a few times and they are now playing festivals up and down the UK.

Strong songwriting and bags of personality.

Memes - 'Blah Blah Blah'

This is a band that has only recently popped up on our radar. There is something instantly addictive about the music released so far.

Definitely a name you won’t forget but also a band that looks like it is ready to make its mark.
