Taffy are often labelled a shoegaze band, a dream pop band, a fuzz rock band.
In truth, though, the Japanese group excel at making pop songs. Other-worldly, furiously contagious, transcendetal pop songs – but pop songs, regardless.
New EP 'Darkle' is due to be released on May 4th through Club AC30, featuring seven tracks of honeycombed delight.

Alesso feat. Roy English – 'Cool'
Iris: Maybe a little bit of the guitar sounds might have been 'cool'. Even cooler if he didn't take his glasses off in the end.
Asano: I got the part where a loser become a cool guy. It is really cool – I wanna be cool too!
Ken: I like the sexy vocal on the dance beat!

Bleachers – 'I Wanna Get Better'
Iris: Thought I started to watch a movie. The song was actually really good! I liked it a lot! And after all, I think I've watched a short movie.
Asano: A song like this must be a kickass one at the gigs.
Ken: I wanna sing the main chorus with everyone else too, it sounds fun!

Clean Bandit – 'Stronger'
Iris: Stronger guitar sounds pleeeeeaase.
Asano: Maybe I hear these songs at a sports gym? I have to start working out.
Ken: The beat is thick and good! I wanna do this dance in the video together with them!

Lethal Bizzle – 'Fester Skank'
Iris: I'm so sorry for moving on to the next video…
Asano: It sounds like beating up a trash can, sounds fun though.
Ken: I’m not too fond of this kind of music. The characters in the video seem interesting.

Nicki Minaj – 'The Night Is Still Young'
Iris: Yo! I'm no position to say no!
Asano: It’s a lyric video so maybe I can work on my English with this. But I need to turn the music off to concentrate.
Ken: I saw the wave of a big audience the moment I heard this song.

Raleigh Ritchie – 'The Greatest'
Iris: Sadly maybe not the greatest…
Asano: It has a crazy kick sound, like a beat box. I like the emotional main chorus. I might come to like this song if I heard it under certain circumstances.
Ken: I like the loose feeling I get from this song, like the ones you hear at an afterparty.
