SULK are a quintessentially British act.
The band's gilded songwriting matches Creation Records' early output with The Stone Roses debut album, with a pinch of shoegaze thrown in for good measure.
New album 'No Illusions' seems to get right to the core of this. Recorded in a converted church in Ramsgate, the month-long sessions were overseen by producer Jonas Verwijnen.
The results are perhaps the group's most ambitious statement yet, veering from Motown stomp to sitar-fuelled psychedelic abandon.
Out next month, Clash decided the time was right to let SULK loose in our weekly singles column…

Katy B ft. Craig David x Major Lazer – 'Who Am I'
Andy: I saw Craig David at Bestival. Kudos to a man that thinks he can improve Dr. Dre’s next episode by singing ‘Fill Me In’ over it. I sort of admire his deluded-ness. Apparently he’s got a watch on his wrist with no hands on it, it just says NOW. Which is meant to be some spiritual Eckhart Tolle thing but makes it very hard if you don’t want to be late for the cinema. Probably why he’s always asking people if they can fill him in.

Clean Cut Kid – 'Pick Me Up'
Andy: They look like they’re having fun. But to be fair it just made me want to watch that Is Tropical video where the French kid’s wanking in a mansion.

Sigma – 'Stay'
Jon: Music for people numbed by their Xanax prescriptions. Awful. Don’t think they’d even play this on the waltzers!

AlunaGeorge ft. Popcaan – 'I'm In Control'
Jon: I’ve realized that I can’t even comment on this music anymore. Can’t find anything to relate too. Sure she’s a nice girl, but the guys on bikes have outshone her. Hope they got a bigger dressing rooms and better riders!

Selena Gomez – 'Hands To Myself'
Andy: I like this. She seems sound, and the video was good until it turned into an advert for flatscreen Tellys half way through, and she started getting off with a bloke that looked like a cross between Thor and a non-paggered Wolf from Gladiators. I’m still trying to figure out what happened though? The storyline’s more confusing than Inception.
