Think you know Frankie Rose? Sure you do. Drummer extraordinaire, the Brooklyn artists 2010 solo turn was all girl group melodies, whirring feedback and Polka dot skirts.
Yet on her new album, Frankie Rose throws away all these preconceptions. ‘Interstellar’ is a work of other worldly pop music, with the artist deciding to throw away those indie pop tropes and deal with something personal.
Aesthetically, ‘Interstellar’ has a Gothic edge, with the spiky guitars recalling those first steps from The Cure. The production is crystal clear, placing Frankie Rose’ voice firmly at the centre of the record.
“I always have a big picture in mind,” Frankie Rose reflected recently. “I knew I wanted a HUGE sounding record. Big highs, big lows, and clean. There is no fuzz on this record”.
ClashMusic have managed to obtain the stream for ‘Interstellar’ ahead of schedule. This is a special, special record – listen below.
