Up close with the dance guru...

Melé always hits hard.

The DJ is known for his energetic, up front sets, matching a feel for the dancefloor with a deep love of club culture.

Constantly seeking out fresh sounds, his crisp, vibrant approach is continually being overhauled, placing Melé at the cusp of new music.

Set to play The Warehouse Project's New Year's Eve spectacular, he joins a line up that includes Annie Mac, Rudimental (DJ set), Krystal Klear, Artwork, and many more.

Clash caught up with Melé to discuss the best ways to open a DJ set in Starter For Five...

The Goodmen - 'Give It Up'

My go to opener! Always sets the tone for the next few hours.

The Green Door Allstars - 'Tsorna' (Midland Mix)

Been playing this a lot recently after a friend put me onto it. That rising bass-line is a vibe.

DJ Hiro - 'Kote Moun Yo' (Joe Clausell Spiritual Life Remix)

I'm such a massive fan of Joe Clausell's records and could have picked a few here, but I always love playing this one out.

A Guy Called Gerald - 'Voodoo Ray' (Danny Tenaglia Remix)

'Voodoo Ray' is one of my favourite tracks of all time and Danny Tenaglia is one of my favourite producers, the perfect combo!

Saliva Commandos - 'Percussion Line'

In the same vein as the Goodmen track but a more up to date vibe, from Club Bad's very own Saliva Commandos!
