Starter For Five: GotSome

Kickstarting a DJ set...

GotSome is one of most colourful characters in UK club culture.

A much loved DJ and producer, he's worked with everyone from Wiley to Jus Now while delivering a slew of emphatic remixes.

Continually moving into new realms, Gotsome spent the bulk of this summer on the road, playing key sets at some huge festivals.

Working on his own material on the sly, the producer returned last week with his new Armada Deep backed 12 inch 'Pump It Up'.

Heading into Autumn with trademark confidence, GotSome sat down with Clash to discuss the best ways to open a set in Starter For Five.

I guess these are also the tunes that have influenced my last few releases…

Fast Eddie – 'Hip House' (Julian 'Jumpin' Perez 89 Remix)

First one. I've got mad love for hip-house and acid house this tune reps that to the up most.

Mike Dunn – 'Let It Be House' (Jach Trax)

Secondly: I bought this record again a few weeks back and I've been playing it out. Don't fuck with the classics.

Liberty City – 'If You Really Want Somebody' (Tribal America)

I've actually been playing the Jynx edit of it but the original still slaps….

Big Freedia – 'Rent'

This is the fourth rune I've chosen. I recently did a tune with Big Freedia called Poppin. She's got such a presence in what she does in New Orleans bounce. You guys have got to check her out… MAD!

The final tune for this selection has to be my latest release 'Pump It Up'. A tune I’ve been playing in my sets for well over a year. Coming out this on Armada Deep… Go check it out… Hope you like it.
