Catch her in London later this week...

Hallowe'en is the perfect time to party.

The clocks have changed, the nights are getting longer, and the chill in the air makes us all want to descend to some hot, sweaty basement somewhere.

Shoreditch venue The Curtain throws open its doors this week, hosting a special Clash Live party on October 31st.

Alongside this, the venue is also supporting Night Of The Living Memes - an all-star throw-down featuring three of our favourite selectors.

Jarreau Vandal, poundlandbandit and Shy One will be raising the roof, will plenty of surprises on the night.

Touching Bass cohort and Balamii resident Shy One has dug through her record case for some spooky bangers, the tracks that resonate on a system while sending a chill down your spine...

Lil Keke - 'Peepin In My Window'

Originally Goodie Mob's 'Cell Therapy', Keke freestyles over what was already a dark and heavy beat, slowed down. For me it amplifies all my favourite aspects of the instrumental and adds a lil spooky air to the tune.

Mobb Deep - 'Cradle To The Grave'

This tracks title alone makes it fitting for a Halloween playlist. The rumbling bass, simplicity and eerie guitar loop that comes in makes it perfect for a haunted house soundtrack.

Amon Tobin - 'Reanimator'

As much as this track soothes me, It makes me feel like i'm fleeing an innumerable amount of ghouls, demons and monsters. Actually that could be what I find soothing haha!

Busta Rhymes - 'Gimme Some More'

You can't hear this track and not have the incredible Hype Williams' directed video come to mind - It literally scared kids (not me, but a friend definitely was) and that string sample evokes some dread before the beat comes in.

Scratcha DVA - 'Bare Fuzz'

Scratcha, is the don of making playfully dark riddims. 'Bare Fuzz' is a perfect example. The vocal samples, dub-esque bassline and SFX make this an ideal spooky banger.

Nazar - 'Airstrike'

The reality of what this song is about - “recounting the stories of numerous airstrikes endured by his mother, aunties and older sisters” is a literal real life horror that people live(d).

Mala - 'New Life Baby Paris'

And it aint a 'spooky' playlist without some dubstep. This track is the first that came to mind, i've always imagined an army of the dead marching when I listen to this.
