Sadie Williams x & Other Stories

The CSM graduate bags a new collab partner.

“That would be wicked,” Sadie Williams told Clash in 2013, referring to her capsule collection as part of Selfridges’ Bright Young Things project (here). “I would love to see someone in one of my new smaller embossed leather dresses!”

A year later we can only imagine her smile greater and her enthusiasm a notch higher, given she is about to release a collaboration with H&M’s sister label, & Other Stories.

Following the lead of Lykke Li and Vika Gazinskaya, the new collection will drop internationally (!) as well as online, this Thursday.

“I’ve long had a love for folk clothing and textiles, and vintage sportswear and print design, so I wanted to develop these interests in a contemporary way whilst capitalising on my natural inclination towards working with colour and geometric patterns,” the designer notes.

“The collection,” she continues, “is youthful and highly feminine with a boyish sensibility, encapsulating my interest in unexpected juxtapositions.”

Ahead of production the Central Saint Martins graduate reportedly poured over imagery from Swiss photographer Karlheinz Weinberger’s ‘Rebel Youth’, which led to the line’s eclectic mix of textures and focus on layering.

Spread out across dresses, skirts, sweaters and tops, shapes – with the addition of several gathered waistbands – echo the straight nature of Williams’ aesthetic, allowing prints of red, silver, blue and black to retain the eye’s focus.
