Premiere: Wilco – ‘Alpha Mike Foxtrot’

Well, Disc Two...

Wilco are – almost undoubtedly – an institution.

The ferociously independent American band helped to pioneer and define what would become known as alt country, continually expanding their vocabulary with each release.

Toasting their 20th anniversary, Wilco have collated a number of demos, live cuts, collaborations and unreleased recordings on new box set 'Alpha Mike Foxtrot'.

Spread across four discs, this is a treasure trove for fans and casual observers alike. Out now (purchase LINK), Clash is pleased as punch to be able to premiere the second disc…

Amongst the gems on show is a neat collaboration with The Byrds' Roger McGuinn on 'James Alley Blues', alongside some beautiful out-takes from the 'Mermaid Avenue' sessions.

Much more than mere offcuts, this collection demonstrates the vitality, the sheer creativity which allies itself to anything Wilco care to put their name against.
