Premiere: Ben Watt – Dark Field Illumination: Deep Folk Mixtape 2

Pastoral, acoustic fare...

Ben Watt has done it all.

A musician, producer, DJ, label boss and author, Watt has spent more than thirty years at the frontline of new music.

Recently, though, the songwriter felt compelled to go back to the start. Reaching for his acoustic guitar, new album 'Hendra' is billed as 'simply a folk-rock record in an electronic age'.

It's easy to see why. Pastoral, meditative and quietly experimental, Ben Watt is continuing to push ahead only this time he has decided to do it a field with no small measure of history.

Collaborating with Bernard Butler, the interplay between the two recalls from genuine acoustic greats. With this in mind, Clash is pleased as punch to be able to offer the first play of Ben Watt's new mixtape.

'Dark Field Illumination: Deep Folk Mixtape 2' pieces together some classic performers with left field choices, while Ben Watt also filters some original aspects through the sounds.

Utilising found sounds, field recordings, additional original synth, space echo and more, this is truly 'a folk-rock record in an electronic age'.
