Palehound is the alter ego of Boston-based guitarist and songwriter Ellen Kempner.
Just 21 years old, Ellen is already the toast of the American underground, with her DIY approach set against some biting lyrics and kick-ass garage rock thrills.
Palehound's debut album 'Dry Good' is due to be released on March 4th, with the songwriter set to play a flurry of British shows.
First, though, Clash has invited Ellen to pick out some influences and contemporaries – tune in below.

Dilly Dally – 'Snake Head'
This band put out my favourite record of 2015. Very very obsessed every song is so insanely good it was very hard to just choose one for this.

Sheer Mag – 'Can’t Stop Fighting'
Every song they write is perfect. This is their newest one and I basically stopped caring about everything else in the world when I first heard it. Also this band is mysterious and I love that about them.

Alex G – 'Kicker'
My favourite current songwriter. Toured with him in June and could watch him play every night until I die probably.

Eskimeaux – 'Power'
Great people. Great song. New song. Scary lyrics. Favourite song of theirs.

Two Inch Astronaut – 'Good Behaviour'
Some good pals who shred insanely hard, write crazy riffs, and blow my mind. Crash on their couch every time we’re in DC and they are very generous.

Aye Nako – 'Human Shield'
This is the JAM. This song is always stuck in my head. Also the nicest people and Joe has very good taste in necklaces.

Melkbelly – 'Bathroom At The Beach'
The first time I heard this I saw the music video and was like “this is a perfect song and video” and then I heard everything else and was like “wtf this is so good” and now we’re friends and they have a cute new dog named Joni.
