Because collaborations with adidas, Uniqlo and Comme des Garcons fragrance weren’t enough, Pharrell Williams has decided G-Star Raw will be his next NBF.
Hence Williams has curated the Dutch brand’s new sustainable fashion collection, in partnership with the textile company Bionic Yarn – that ‘transforms fibres made from recycled plastic into durable textiles’ – and at which Pharrell holds the position of Creative Director.
The Vortex Project has also signed up for the line (the first in a series), a non-profit initiative founded last year by Parley for the Oceans (a collaborative space focused on ending the destruction of oceans) and Bionic Yarn.
Producing both men’s and womenswear, the new capsule collection boasts the debut denim woven from Bionic Yarn, while already it has picked up a prize from the Cannes Lions Festival, recently winning the Grand Prix award for Product Design.
Modelled by the N*E*R*D frontman himself, the collection features fantastic smart does casual coats, hoodies, tees, jeans and bomber jackets, in a strict palette that reflects its cause: navy, black and white.
