Kicking off the first eleven song choices as we head towards a total of fifty five, tying in with Original Penguin’s 55th birthday, with Clash in the hot seat.

1. M.I.A. – Born Free

Returning surrounded by her usual aura of controversy, ‘Born Free’ belts along at a heart quickening pace, reminding all why she got us all hot and bothered previously. Mind you, the video’s a bit much eh?

2. Broken Bells – The High Road

Broken Bells is the project which sees The Shins’ James Mercer teamed up with producer Dangermouse (a.k.a. Brian Burton). Another of the ‘mouse’s projects, ‘Dark NIght Of The Soul’ with Sparklehorse, is set to be released following a long dispute with EMI.

3. Kylie Minogue – All The Lovers

The original Aussie Pop pixie, Kylie, returns with the fist taste of forthcoming album, ‘Aphrodite’, her first since 2007’s ‘X’ and following her successful battle with breast cancer.

4. Mount Kimbie – Fields

Mount Kimbie are made up of twenty-four-year-old Kai Campos and twenty-three-year-old Dom Maker. Kai is orginally from St. Auster in Cornwall while Don hails from Brighton. They met at Southbank University in London, where Kai was having a second stab at university and Dom was studying film.

5. Mystery Jets – Half In Love With Elizabeth

With a new album on the way, ‘Seratonin’, and free download available from their website, ‘Flash A Hungry Smile’, the summer of 2010 could be theirs. Here we jump back in time for a mini classic from their last album, ‘Twenty One’.

6. Bombay Bicycle Club – Dust On The Ground

Forming at school, Bombay Bicycle Club no doubt spent hours strumming away on bashed up acoustic guitars. Music lessons well spent, then, with the London group confirming news of a new acoustic album coming soon, ‘Flaws’.

7. The Coral – 1000 Years

The Coral burst out of Hoylake in the summer of 2002, with songs which seemed to contain more ideas than some bands careers. Check out the first tarck from their forthcoming album ‘Butterfly House’.

8. Aerosmith – Love In An Elevator

Formed in 1970, Aerosmith went on to become one of the biggest bands on the planet. A remarkable second wind saw the group top the charts in the late 90s. Following recent ‘issues’ with lead singer Steven Tyler, the band are now back touring.

9. Kasabian – Club Foot

Kasabian rule the roost at summer events. The band’s hard touring ethics have honed their live show to a stunning degree, with the Leicester group capable of drawing on some massive fan anthems. Listen to on of their early classics, ‘Club Foot’, above.

10. AC/DC – Back In Black

AC/DC are one of the most important rock bands of all time. Formed at the peak of the progressive era, the Australian group reduced rock music to a savage boogie and screaming guitar solos. They recently released their first greatest hits album as the soundtrack to the film, ‘Iron Man 2’.

11. Fatboy Slim – The Rockafeller Skank

Taking time off last year, Fatboy Slim is ready to return this summer. Alongside a host of tour dates, the producer has united with electro house don Herve to work on a brand new track due for release this summer. Available from June 14th, the new single is called ‘Machines Can Do The Work’.
