It’s been a while since I got this excited.
Sometimes it clicks that the band you are watching are more than just another droll imitation of worn out scenes. You’ll go home and test the stickler search engine of MySpazz for some more. Operahouse can be added to this personal list of revelations.
The young five-piece write songs like they were short dramas, with constant rhythm changes and towering vocals. Sharp intimidating guitars, reminiscent of Calla, frame their music whilst the vocal prowess of lead singer Johnny Lloyd is unleashed, leaving aural connotations of Muse touring Teignmouth pubs in their teens. New EP ‘Change In Nature’ is the talent-soaked gamebreaker that will undoubtedly have heads turning in time for next year’s long player.
Operahouse’s ‘Change In Nature’ E.P. is out 10th November on Marrakesh Records. Read Clash’s review of it here.
