Ones To Watch 2010: Atlas Sound

Destined for great things...

The guy with that archetypal American namesake, Bradford Cox, is going it alone and still going strong.

This spectral waif flew the Deerhunter coop back in 2006, leaving the comfort of his musical comrades-in-arms to pursue his solo project Atlas Sound. And the bizarre title of debut ‘Let The Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel’ is itself testament to the record’s content: convoluted, largely inaccessible, but stupendously brilliant.

Like all superior musical geniuses, Bradford shies away from media attention. Preferring to hide in the shadows of obscurity, he remains aloof and unobtainable. But he has secured quite the cult following since his conception three years ago, and is now leftfield indie’s greatest unsung hero.

‘Logos’ is his second offering to date. A triumph of ambient experimentalism, the album also demonstrates the singer’s passion for doo wop and Sixties girls’ groups.

So, keep your weary eyes peeled, for Atlas Sound is destined for even greater things this year…
