Vito de Luca thinks big. You can hear it in his music. It veers from Balearic groovers to soulful crescendos that sound like they’ve been circulating for twenty years. There’s also definitely a heavy lilt to disco, borne through his older brother’s success as an acclaimed disco DJ: “I stole all his records,” says Vito. “He called me one day and said, ‘Hey, where are the records that were in my garage?’” Having gone solo just before the release of this album, which took three years to make, his flight now seems assured, solo at the controls of his own path to retro club smashes and reimagining the glories of others in his remixes.
Did You Know? Vito leaked a dismissed remix he did for Grace Jones, transforming her opinion of it enough for a personal phone call apologising.
