If 2014 was a big year for Maison Kitsuné – it was, in Paris the record label-cum-clothing brand opened its first two café Kitsuné’s, in the gardens of the Palais Royal and on the Left Bank, elsewhere the brand made its New York Fashion Week debut with a presentation of its SS15 ‘Effortless French’ collection – 2015 is about to top that.
Tomorrow sees the first of five new store openings, as Gildas Loaëc and Masaya Kuroki’s label sets up shop in Paris’s 9th arrondissement at 68 rue Condorcet; Rivington Street New York follows in February, the 11th arrondissement and Hong Kong in March, plus Tokyo in September.
Listed on the Inventory of Historical Monuments, 68 rue Condorcet was built in 1862 by French architect Viollet-le-Duc, and the new boutique has been designed by founders of DIMORESTUDIO, Emiliano Salci and Britt Moran.
Housing both men’s and womenswear (the latter plays tourist in the French capital above), as well as the latest Café Kitsuné, the shop’s interior was influenced by the Maison Kitsuné bubble; hence the palette boasts shades of lapis blue and carmine red while aluminium and stratified wood feature elsewhere.
A capsule collection – titled, wait for it ‘Maison Kitsuné Condorcet Paris’ – has been produced to celebrate the store’s launch, comprised of blue and white T-shirts, a sweatshirt, tote bag and denim shirt.
