Stubborn Heart remain infuriatingly difficult to place.
There's that name for starters… half-poetic and half-melodramatic, it seems to point towards something sincere yet with a twinkle in its eye. Hailing from Oxford and London, the pair emerged last night with hipper-than-hip label Kaya Kaya issuing their debut EP.
Fragmented house textures, 80s synth pop and classic soul rippled through their material, sparking One Little Indian into action. Grabbing hold of the duo, Stubborn Heart released their debut album through the label earlier this year.
A thrilling document of a production team bursting into vivid life, the self-titled won widespread critical praise. Album highlight 'Starting Block' is set to gain the remix treatment, with Something New, 128 Yard Dash and Clubinstrumental stepping up to the plate.
ClashMusic have been handed the 128 Yard Dash remix. Retaining the down beat, sighing melancholy in that original vocal, the production team rip apart Stubborn Heart's delicately poised arrangement for something more club heavy. Driving, percussive House music, the 128 Yard Dash remix matches warm, uplifting bass textures to those clattering snare kicks.
