Le Le – ‘John Pierre La Douche’

From Issue 32's covermount cd

If the Eurovision Song Contest was not a complete pile of shit, it would sound like Le Le’s new album, ‘Flage’.

This Amsterdam trio apparently wish they were French, but that doesn’t stop the techno-synth junkies from writing in their native Dutch, as well as French, Italian, English and German.

Their music is influenced by hundreds of different directions from varied cultures and illusive scenes including Italo, ’60s glamour and cliché gangster rap. The band have embraced the nouveau, almost autarkic, attitude of rising bands in their self sufficiency, by taking on the responsibilities of production, design, and all media output (e.g. music videos, VJing). ‘Flage’ might be one letter away from being memorably rude, but it is actually innocently Dutch, meaning ‘flag’.

Le Le’s ‘Flage’ album is out on Magnetronic on November 10th. Read Clash’s review of it here.
