Bath blues rockers Kill It Kid recently opened Ben Sherman’s Christmas celebrations at their Covent Garden store.
A festive themed event, shoppers were even rewarded with a drop of the white stuff – although the eggnog was in short supply. Playing an intimate set, Kill It Kid decided to unveil a host of new tracks which might just appear on their second album.
Speaking to ClashMusic, guitarist Chris Turpin revealed just what the band have been up to…
“We’ve gone underground for the past 6 months, written 40-50 tracks with a different set of principals than we had for the first record. We have just decided we want to record the album the week before Christmas. We’ve naturally moved away from our old sound, no violin, no acoustic guitars.”
“Having recorded or a month in the states on our debut we want our second album to retain a sense of Britishness…we will record fast and somewhere in central London. We want to put the whole album on to tape in just over a week. emulating the same energy we can deliver live. The ‘retreat’ studio we used last time just wouldn’t suit these newer songs. The record will be alive, raw and pretty filthy.”
“Most importantly we want the album to run as a piece, each song has a common thread and we have a concept that will ground the album in its influences and offer our audience something that hopefully hasn’t been done before…should hopefully make for quite an intense listen. We’re very excited!”
