James Orr Complex – ‘Save Or Serve’

From Issue 32's covermount cd

James Orr Complex is the cultured folk arrangement and writings of Christopher Mack.

In a Dev Hynes-esque fashion, the Glaswegian Mack traded in the heavier rock aesthetic of former band Eska, to take on a new gentle acoustic project, influenced by finger style guitar and his time in Sao Paulo. Glasgow band Eska was in fact also once home to Mogwai maestro Stuart Braithwaite, who drummed for the band in their early years. Mack’s delectable vocals and debonair strumming provide warming live performances, often intentionally arranged at smaller, intimate venues. James Orr Complex will succeed debut record ‘Chori’s Bundle’ with a late 2008 release of a couth new album ‘Com Favo’, recorded in Brazil and mastered in Glasgow.

James Orr Complex’s ‘Com Favo’ album is out on Rock Action Records on October 27th. Read Clash’s review of it here.
