River Island Design Forum has returned for SS15, and this season the brand has tapped James Long for the starring role.
Promising ‘no compromise on his signature aesthetic’, the new offering boasts a strong reference to Long’s SS15 mainline collection, predominantly via colour and fabric details.
“I think it’s an exciting time for menswear in the UK so it seemed like the perfect time to collaborate with River Island,” notes the designer. “We both knew that we could create a line that is perfect for the modern man. Each piece is something special which you can mix into a eclectic wardrobe.”
The ten-piece collection follows RIDF stints from Katie Eary, Joseph Turvey and more recently Baartmans and Siegel.
Long’s collection – available from February – is made up of striped tops, appliqued jumpers and shorts that fall just below the knee, plus a neoprene rucksack and mirrored sunglasses; the hero piece has already been called out as the hooded nylon bomber jacket.
As per the initiative’s tradition, an accompanying film will launch at London Collections: Men in January, this season directed by Menno Fokma.
