Swedish project The Amazing tend to let their music do the talking.
Interviews are kept to a minimum, with the band – led by Christoffer Gunrup – focussing their strength on each album, each single.
New record 'Ambulance' will be released this month, and it's a strong, impassioned, and highly creative return. Matching gorgeous sonics to songwriting of real depth and bite, it's perhaps the closest that The Amazing have come to matching their moniker.

The Cure – 'Plainsong'
The best opening song of any album ever… It's just majestic, olympic, which are words that I usually would not ever use. The melodies, the echo-vocals. Just beautiful. I always listen to music with headphones alone. I never understood why people get together and listen to music when drinking or whatever, that means others will want to play their shitty favourites). This song keeps coming back to me. I think I love it.
Sun Kil Moon – 'Lost Verses'
Another beautiful song by Mark Kozelek. This one is also very good acoustic. He has released some acoustic live albums. Besides being a great songwriter he is a fantastic guitarist, Always has been. Seen him live a few times, (and I hate live music), but it was great. Never got to see Red House Painters but, the albums they made were absolutely fantastic. There are some Kozelek songs I often come back to, and this is one of them.
Simon & Garfunkel – 'The Only Living Boy In New York'
As you can tell, I don't really pick up on newer music… at all, I'm afraid. This track just has a fantastic sound. The actual song is of course great, but the arrangement and the sound of it makes it outstanding. Well done, good for them.
My Bloody Valentine – 'Sometimes'
All of the songs from 'Loveless' are just superb. When this came out it sounded like nothing else. Just… magic. The guitars, the… everything. I was told that when they played Sweden in the early 90's they ended the set by cranking up the sound of jet engines to the point where you had to leave the place or vomit. Fantastic.
Slayer – 'Angel Of Death'
I love this album ('Reign In Blood') and have done since I was a kid. Many of my friends at the time went all in with the trash/death/black metal thing and headbanging in what to me felt like the wrong time and place; walking home from school, waiting for the bus etc. But this song, and album, is one of the best ever made.
